1. Picture Perfect

Let’s face it; the Southern Highlands region is bloody beautiful! It’s picturesque, which makes it the perfect area to have a wedding and get some absolutely cracking wedding photos! Why wouldn’t you want to get married there is probably the question you should be asking!

2. There’s Something About Nature

Following on from that, if you really want your wedding to have that natural vibe, the Southern Highlands is the perfect location. It’s hilly, it’s green, it’s lush and these elements will make for gorgeous snaps of your day. It’s a great region if you are going for a more rustic, countryside vibe for your wedding. The Highlands is also a tad cooler than say having your wedding in Sydney. If you’re considering having your wedding during late spring, summer or early autumn, the cooler climate of the Highlands might work a bit better for your big day.  If you’re a fan of nature, stuff Sydney, Check out the Southern Highlands!

3. The Getaway Plan

Having your wedding at a venue in the Southern Highlands means, you can really make a weekend out of your wedding day. It is the perfect region to have a couple of days away from the hustle and bustle of suburban or city life – and not just for you and your partner. Your guests can make a weekend of your wedding too! There are plenty of gorgeous hotels and B&Bs that are suitable for a couple nights’ stay. There is also plenty to do in the region, from breathtaking bushwalks to wine tours. The Southern Highlands is also a foodies dream! Get into it, mates!

4. Quality Venues

There are some absolutely freaking stunning venues in the Southern Highlands and I’ve had the absolute pleasure to photograph at a few of them. Venues like Bendooley Estate, Centennial Vineyards, and Jaspers Berry are just some of the well-known and hugely popular Southern Highlands wedding locations.  Most importantly, there are so many venues throughout the region to cater for size and budget, which are key when deciding on where to hold your wedding. Oh, and by the way, while you’re hunting on for those weddings, drop into The Shaggy Cow for a coffee in Mittagong, Bowral, you won’t be disappointed!

5. That Beautiful Southern Highlands Light!

As previously mentioned, I’ve shot all around Sydney, NSW and the globe, and i’ve NEVER seen light spread the way it does in The Southern Highlands. Do yourself and your wedding photographer a favour and make sure you leave 30 minutes to an hour around golden hour on your wedding day for your wedding photographs!
